LA PINE SPORTS ACADEMY (LPSA)
Player Code of Conduct & Participation Agreement
Purpose
The La Pine Sports Academy is committed to providing a safe, positive, and development-focused environment for youth athletics.
Participation in LPSA is a privilege. All athletes are expected to represent themselves, their team, and the La Pine community with respect, effort, and integrity.
Program Philosophy
La Pine Sports Academy is a developmental program designed to prepare athletes for middle school and high school sports.
While LPSA provides recreational opportunities for participation, we operate with structured expectations that promote discipline, teamwork, and coach-led development.
Athlete Commitment
Athletes agree to:
• give their best effort at all practices and games
• be coachable and willing to learn
• maintain a positive attitude
• support teammates and contribute to a team-first environment
• come prepared and ready to participate
Respect & Sportsmanship
Athletes must demonstrate respect at all times.
This includes:
• respecting coaches, teammates, officials, and opponents
• using appropriate language and behavior
• showing good sportsmanship, win or lose
• accepting coaching and officiating decisions appropriately
• athletes will not argue with, disrespect, or display negative behavior toward referees or officials
• during games and practices, players are expected to listen to and follow direction from their coaches only
Team Expectations
Athletes are expected to:
• attend practices and games consistently
• communicate absences in advance when possible
• arrive on time and ready to participate
• follow team rules set by the coach
• wear appropriate gear and uniforms
Behavior Standards
Athletes shall not:
• bully, harass, or intimidate others
• use abusive or inappropriate language
• engage in unsportsmanlike conduct
• disrupt practices, games, or team activities
• damage equipment or facilities
LPSA has zero tolerance for harassment, bullying, or discrimination.
Substance-Free Policy
Athletes are strictly prohibited from:
• using drugs, alcohol, or tobacco products
• being under the influence during any LPSA activity
Anti-Hazing Policy
Hazing is strictly prohibited.
Any behavior that humiliates, intimidates, or harms another athlete is not allowed and will result in disciplinary action.
Safety & Responsibility
Athletes are expected to:
• follow all safety instructions from coaches
• use equipment properly
• report injuries immediately
• avoid unsafe or reckless behavior
Communication Expectations
Athletes should:
• communicate respectfully with coaches and teammates
• use team communication platforms appropriately
• include parents/guardians when appropriate
Participation & Playing Time (Rec + Academy Standard)
LPSA provides fair playing opportunities while maintaining a structured, coach-led environment.
Participation may be temporarily limited if a player:
• is not following safety rules
• is being disruptive or disrespectful
• is not making a reasonable effort
• misses practices without communication
Any limitations will be used as a teaching tool, not punishment, and players will be given the opportunity to return to full participation.
Coaches have discretion to manage participation in a way that supports the safety, development, and overall team environment.
Academic Commitment (Optional – Academy Focus)
As a developmental program preparing athletes for school sports, LPSA encourages strong academic habits.
School, family, and sports should be prioritized in that order.
While academics are not required for participation at the LPSA level, families may choose to participate in an academic accountability standard.
Scholar Athlete Option (Optional)
Families who choose to opt in agree to the following:
• athletes will make a reasonable effort to stay in good academic standing
• if academic performance becomes a concern, parents may implement academic priorities over participation
• the goal is to build habits that prepare athletes for middle school and high school expectations
Parent Initial (Optional): _________
Discipline & Accountability
Failure to follow this agreement may result in:
• verbal warning
• temporary removal from practice or game situations
• suspension from team activities
• removal from a team
• removal from LPSA programs
The LPSA Board reserves the right to determine disciplinary action based on the severity of violations.
Parent / Guardian Expectations
LPSA recognizes that parents and guardians play a critical role in creating a positive youth sports experience.
Parents/Guardians agree to:
• support all players, not just their own child
• demonstrate good sportsmanship at all times
• respect coaches, officials, and volunteers
• refrain from coaching or directing players from the sideline during practices and games
• allow coaches to coach and support a coach-led environment
• communicate concerns respectfully and at appropriate times
• LPSA operates as a developmental program preparing athletes for school sports, where sideline coaching is not permitted
• players will be instructed to follow coach direction over any sideline instruction
Parents/Guardians shall not:
• engage in disrespectful or confrontational behavior
• argue with officials, coaches, or other spectators
• use abusive or inappropriate language
• create a negative or disruptive environment
Parent Sideline Conduct Enforcement
As a feeder program preparing athletes for middle school and high school sports, LPSA expects a game environment that mirrors higher levels of play.
To support player development and maintain consistency, the following process will be used:
Verbal reminder
Direct warning
Removal from sideline for the remainder of the event
Suspension from future events if behavior continues
LPSA reserves the right to remove any spectator whose behavior negatively impacts the experience of players, coaches, or officials.
